Sirs. Having just returned from a tour of the battlefields of Normandy along with my 14yr old grandson,--- including visiting the various cemeteries, one of which showed where 19yrs old Cyril Oldridge is buried, prompted me on my return to the Uk to find out more, especially since then aged 7yrs of age I was billeted, as a vacuee in his parents house, along with my mother, whilst my father was then serving in the RoyalAirForce at the nearby RAF station Weston Zoyland As I recall it was during this stay that news came in that Cyril, son of Eustace and Daisy Oldridge had been killed, although I must admit being the age I was then, I was not, regrettably able to comprehend the awful consequences, given that a few weeks earlier Cyril he had been gathering in the harvest across the nearby fields. God rest his sole!
